A Mount Pleasant man is facing child sex assault charges.

Sexually assaulted

A 35-year-old man sexually assaulted a disabled five-year-old girl over the weekend after a party, according to officials with the Sturtevant Police Department.

Jason Blashka, of Mount Pleasant, was charged Monday by the Racine County District Attorney with one felony count of second-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 16. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison and/or up to $100,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Blashka was at a party at the girl’s home over the weekend. After the guests went home, Blashka was lying on the floor with the girl watching a movie. The girl’s mother told police she saw Blashka on top of the girl. She screamed for him to get out of the house.

Police say the girl has a physical disability and cannot communicate verbally. When officers caught up with Blashka. he voluntarily got on his knees and put his hands behind his back. He admitted that he, “did it” but wouldn’t say anything further.

During questioning, Blashka told officers he was watching a movie with the girl when she couldn’t reach a toy, the complaint reads. He rolled over to get it for her, and it looked like something else to the girl’s mother, who said there were no toys near her daughter.

Blashka was assigned a $10,000 cash bond during his initial appearance and ordered to not have any contact with the girl, her family, her home or school. He will next be in court Dec. 7 for his preliminary hearing.

Editor’s note: This version of the story was corrected to reflect Blashka’s age to be 35-years-old and the age of the girl he allegedly assaulted to be 5-years-old. Racine County Eye regrets the error.
