If you’re tired of looking at the same old home décor, it’s time to make some changes to freshen things up and bring some life back into your home. You don’t necessarily have to spend a ton of money and time to keep your home up to date with the latest trends. Take advantage of some affordable way to update your home to make it look brand-new. A few simple tricks here and there will freshen up a dated look fast.

Bring the Outdoors Inside

One of the easiest and cheapest things you can do to freshen up your home is to add plants, flowers, or budding branches. Place flowers in vases throughout the house to make the home feel more vibrant and alive. Framing pressed flowers or leaves creates an organic look, and it’s a fun activity to do with your family.

Paint Specific Areas

Painting an entire room of your house is one of the best ways to make over your home, but it takes time and could get expensive. Luckily, you don’t have to paint the whole room to make a change. Instead, try painting the trim or the doors for a faster, cheaper improvement. This will add a new focal point to the room.

Change the Pillows

Freshen up a room with some new decorative throw pillows. The easiest way to make a bedroom or living room look new is to add some new colors or patterns. This can add a whole new dimension to a dated space.

Hang Some Art

It doesn’t matter if you’re not an artist. Even a photocopy of a black and white picture looks like fine art when framed. Get some transparent document frames and put your favorite designs in them. The color of your wall will shine through them and transform your house into a gallery.

Install Floating Shelves

Dress up boring walls with some floating shelves. Display your collection of knick-knacks, books, or family heirlooms throughout the house. Rather than lining up the shelves, arrange them in a unique way to draw attention to them.

Change the Lampshades

Get rid of your old, beige lampshades and replace them with some color. Find new lampshades in vibrant colors that complement your room and give it a fresh new look. Complementary colors and wild designs can add something special to a plain white room, and you can find lampshades for a minimal cost.

Repurpose Unused Space

Do you have a fireplace that sits idle season after season, year after year? Bring some life to this dark, unused space and put it to good use by displaying a collection of vases and faux flowers in it. If you do use your fireplace in the winter, clean it out when it’s not in use and put anything decorative and fun you want in there.
