How storytelling can help grow your business



Storytelling can be a powerful sales tool in attracting the right customer to your business.

We love sharing stories about our favorite businesses with our friends and family. We talk about the owner of that wine shop down the street that knows you by name and sets aside a special bottle for you to try, that hairstylist that always manages to make you feel like a million bucks when you walk out of the salon, and that restaurant with the killer view of Lake Michigan that always brings out a sweet summer song in your heart.

Customers share those experiences because they are meaningful and they want the people they care about to have those same experiences. So if you want to connect with your customers on a deeper level and have your customers evangelize your business? Racine County Eye owner, Denise Lockwood, can show you how.

Don’t just pedal your products, attract that next sale with narrative storytelling and work on creating community. All too often business owners think their business is in selling a product, but it’s often in creating an experience that draws people in and storytelling is a great way to do that.

We will meet for two hours once a week for a three-week long workshop will:

  • study how businesses use storytelling in marketing and advertising (Week 1)
  • define best practices around the elements of storytelling and help you define your ideal customer persona (Week 2)
  • identify a story about your business and map out how best to use that short story (Week 3)

Class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. March 14, 21, and 28 at the Racine County Eye, 410 Main St. Please bring your laptop. Class size limited to 10 people. Deadline to apply is March 1.
