Take in a show this year by visiting the Modine-Benstead Observatory in Union Grove.

Dates are now set for the 2016 calendar; in addition to the regular monthly open house events, the Racine Astronomical Society will also host spring and fall astronomy days and a special solar date.

At every event, society members will be on hand to answer any questions visitors might have.

“Your many questions are expected and welcomed, since part of our club mission is to educate and inspire each of you to participate in the world of amatuer astronomy,” the RAS website reads.

Admission is always free, but because the Society and the observatory are run and staffed by volunteers, donations to help maintain the grounds and equipment are appreciated.

Here are the dates:

Solar Observing
Saturday, April 30th, 1:00 – 4:00 PM

Spring Astronomy Day
Saturday, May 14th, 8:00 – 11:00 PM
