Helen M. Reed, age 93, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at Ridgewood Care Center.
Helen was born in Racine, March 6, 1923, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Nee: Fusanecker) Tomachek. On December 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Joseph Reed who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Helen loved cooking, enjoyed going out for dinner and took great pride caring for her houseplants.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Richard Reed of Delavan, Janis Reed (Don Giles) of Racine; her grandchildren, Randy (Sue) Reed, Ryan Reed, Nick Hansen (Jamie Frost), Stacy Bodnar; her great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kevin Reed, Aubrey Hansen; her great-great-grandson, Jayden; daughter-in-law, Janet Reed of Franksville; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Alan Reed; her daughter-in-law, Marla Reed; brothers and sister, Frank Tomachek, Charles (Violet) Tomachek, Margaret Heary; and fiancé of twenty years, Frank D. Peterson.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main Street. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
