Gateway Foundation names Mary Kubicki as Distinguished Alumni

The Gateway Technical College Alumni Association has named Mary Kubicki as Gateway Technical College’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni. Kubicki earned a Supervisory Management degree from Gateway Technical College in 2012 and currently serves as the Kenosha County Clerk, a position she has held since 2009.

The award is presented annually to a Gateway Technical College graduate who has achieved at an exemplary level of excellence in their field, made significant contributions to that field and exhibit outstanding leadership, character and service. It is awarded during commencement ceremonies in May. This year’s commencement is May 21.

Kubicki’s nominator says: “Mary is phenomenally busy making people’s lives better – through her position as county clerk, through her volunteer opportunities … and by being at countless fundraisers and community events.” At Gateway, Kubicki was a strong student, graduating with honors and making the college’s dean’s list. Mary credits her education at Gateway for giving her the tools and confidence to be a department head and leader and continues to encourage others to achieve their dreams through education and hard work.  Mary’s path to becoming county clerk is one of dedication and focus. After two unsuccessful bids to become clerk, Mary’s third run for the office proved successful. She’s held the position for the past decade, serving the people of Kenosha County.

Kubicki serves on the Hope Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse Board as vice-president, as secretary for Crime Stoppers, was awarded Outstanding Volunteer of the Year for the Boys & Girls Club in 2010 and tutors in the Kenosha County United Way’s Readers Are Leaders program.
