Arrest warrants with a $50,000 cash bond were issued Thursday for two Racine men accused of shooting at two men and a vehicle Sunday on Memorial Drive.
Curtis L. Petty, 33, and Lavon M. Brown, 33, each face two felony charges by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Each charge carries a prison term of 60 years.
According to the criminal complaint:
One of the victims identified Brown as being a passenger and stated he saw him fire several shots at them in the area of Washington Ave. and S. Memorial Drive. Brown allegedly fired more shots toward them as they continued toward 16th Street.
The victim estimated that he and the other man were shot at “at least 20 times.” The other victim stated their vehicle was chased down while being fired up. Police observed numerous bullet holes in the vehicle.
Witnesses later stated the vehicle had been loaned to Petty, who also was involved. He allegedly stated he had “done something bad” and would be leaving for a while. Witnesses said they knew Petty to carry a gun and that is often armed when he leaves the house.
